Junior Agogo died at 40 years

LONDON – Junior Agogo, a former national of Ghana, died at the age of 40 in a London hospital due to the consequences of the stroke that struck him in 2015 shortly after his retirement from football, leaving him permanent damage. During his long career, he played for many years in England wearing the shirts of Sheffield Wednesday, Lincoln City, Queens Park Rangers, Barnet, Bristol Rovers and Nottingham Forest.

Junior Agogo began his football career at Sheffield Wednesday in 1995, collecting only two appearances among the Owls ranks. In the 1999-2000 season he was loaned to several clubs: Oldham Athletic, Chester City, Chesterfield and Lincoln City.

A Chester scored a goal against Cheltenham Town in October 1999 when, after a progression from midfield, he released an unstoppable shot for the goalkeeper of the visiting team. In 2000, after leaving Sheffield Wednesday, he moved to the United States to play in the ranks of the Chicago Fire, a team that plays in Major League Soccer.

However, it was immediately surrendered to the Colorado Rapids after only one game. Agogo scored 15 goals in 32 starting play, greatly reinforcing the Commerce City team's offensive department. In June 2001 it was sold to the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for Chris Carrieri.

He played the whole of 2001 with Earthquakes, but in early 2002 he lost his place in the squad for the arrival of Devin Barclay; Agogo was thus forced to leave California. He returned to England to settle in Queens Park Rangers, until the start of the 2002-2003 season when he left the QPR to go to the Barnet, where he scored 21 goals.

In the summer of 2003 he left Barnet to go to Bristol Rovers, a Football League Two team, where he played the first 13 races. In the following season he scored 22 goals in all the competitions in which the Bristol took part. In the 2005-2006 season he started as a starter in 44 games, scoring 18 goals.

On August 20, 2006 he was hired by the Nottingham Forest League One team, making his debut in the 4-0 win against Chesterfield, a game played at Nottingham City Ground on September 3, 2006.

His first goal with the Forest jersey was the 3-1 of the match played on 30 September 2006 against Swansea City. He scored the first hat-trick of his career in a game against Gillingham, scoring three of Nottingham Forest's four goals.

After having definitively closed his English experience, he ended his career as a professional football player as a "globetrotter". He played in Egypt, in Zamalek (15 appearances with 4 goals), in Cyprus, with Apollon (24 appearances with 6 goals), and Scotland, with Hibernian (12 appearances with a goal) (source Wikipedia).
